About Michael S. Speas (SPEAS)
Michael S. Speas, known as SPEAS, is a San Francisco-based painter, filmmaker, composer and novelist. He founded the Confrontist Art Movement (CAM). His work spans painting, film, music and fiction, confronting boundaries around the body, identity and power.
In 2026, Speas founded sapiØPØRN™ (sapioporn): pornography designed to arouse while simultaneously functioning as intellectual inquiry. The manifesto requires both functions to be essential to the work.
